July 16, 2018 - Good times, fun race and great people!
The 33rd year of the Sunfish Triathlon did not disappoint, bringing all of the tradition and the summer's heat to this annual July race in North Mississippi. The venue at Bonita Lakes Park is one of the better sprint triathlon event settings in the South with a lake swim that exits directly into transition right off the swim exit. The bike course is the highlight of the day with a 2.5m climb out of the park, and then a faster rolling false flat stretch out/back before returning to the park with a fast descent at the end. The run is a 5K loop around the reservoir (no shade) and a quick levee climb to the finish. The post race party always has great food and beverage, and the race still gives a decent amount of race schwag to all participants. Cheers!
