Probiotic Kimchi Tacos Recipe

I enjoy trying new things and here in Hawai'i kimchi is becoming increasingly popular. Kimchi, also spelled kimchee, is a popular Korean dish made of fermented cabbage and radishes soaked in a red chili sauce and a combination of spices. Kimchi can be found in the refrigerated section of the grocery store, although, this probiotic filled food is also easy to make at home. The distinct flavor from the fermented cabbage and radishes give this taco recipe a delicious and exciting twist! The following recipe makes 8 tacos.


Ingredients:

- 16oz ground beef
- 1 TBSP sesame oil
- 2 cloves of minced garlic
- 1 Tsp of red pepper flakes
- 1 TBSP coconut aminos
- 1 TBSP brown sugar
- 1 TBSP vegetable oil
- Corn tortillas
Toppings (optional):
- Siracha Mayo
- 8oz. container of KimChi
- 1 bunch of Cilantro
- 1 white onion
- toasted sesame seeds
- 1 lime

Instructions:

1. Combine ground beef, sesame oil, garlic, red pepper flakes, brown sugar, and coconut aminos in one bowl and let marinate for one hour.
2. Cut cilantro, lime, and onion while waiting. Pull out siracha mayo, kimchi, and tortillas.
2. Preheat pan with vegetable oil to medium-high heat until pan is hot.
3. Add beef to the pan and let brown for 4-5 minutes. Then use a spatula to break the meat into ground pieces.
4. Once the meat is browned turn to the pan to low and begin warming the tortillas on a stove top.
5. Add beef, kimchi, cilantro, onion, sesame seeds, lime, and sriracha mayo to tacos and enjoy the taste and probiotic benefit!
